Biography One – under 100 words:

Marcelle Mateki Akita is an author, producer and literature programmer. She is the Producer of the Royal African Society‘s Africa Writes festival at the British Library, Bernie Grant Arts Centre‘s Tottenham Literature Festival and Apples & SnakesSPINE Festival. She previously worked for the Caine Prize for African Writing and co-founded literary community organisation Afrikult. Her fiction appears in journals and anthologies. She published Lizard and Other Stories in 2016 and was shortlisted for the 2018 Morland Writing Scholarships. Her two children’s books are published by Hachette UK and she is working on her novel. She sporadically grams/tweets @matekiwrites.
