Biography One – under 100 words:

Marcelle Mateki Akita is a freelance writer, producer and literature programmer. She is the lead producer of the Royal African Society‘s Africa Writes festival at the British Library, and was lead producer and programmer for Bernie Grant Arts Centre‘s inaugural Tottenham Literature Festival. She previously worked for the Caine Prize for African Writing. She co-founded literary community organisation Afrikult. Her fiction appears in online and print journals including AFREADA, Aké Review and Unbreakable Bonds. She was shortlisted for the 2018 Morland Writing Scholarships. She has two forthcoming children’s books with Hodder Education in 2020. She sporadically grams/tweets @matekiwrites.
