Under the soaring sun Kwabena weaved through traffic, a bundle of red flip-flops decorated with white hearts hanging off his shoulder.

“Chalewote! 2 cedi!” he hollered while thrusting flip-flops at car windows. Occasionally he’d press both his forehead and flip-flops against tinted windows to peak inside.

Ahead he spotted a hand holding a crisp 2 cedi note.

“Size 9,” the passenger said.

Her eyes fixed on her nails as Kwabena quickly unwrapped and handed her flip-flops. She pushed the note into his palm and wound up the tinted window. He gaped when he recognised the actress.
